32 LPCB SR3 Kiosks Manufactured in Four Working Weeks

Project Overview

Quinshield manufactured 32 LPCB SR3 GRP kiosks for BGEN, supporting a standardised kiosk solution for Yorkshire Water.

Quinshield completed the order within four working weeks, helping the client meet an advanced procurement requirement before the end of the financial year.

The Requirement

Yorkshire Water required a standardised kiosk solution covering the panel, kiosk and kiosk electrical works.

The order included three different kiosk designs, all produced in line with Yorkshire Water specifications and LPCB SR3 requirements. Because the order formed part of an advanced procurement programme, Quinshield needed to manufacture the kiosks quickly, so they could be delivered before the end of the financial year.

Yorkshire Water also planned to use the three designs as the basis for future standardised products going into the following year, making design approval, repeatability and programme control especially important.

Quinshield’s Solution

Quinshield manufactured 32 LPCB SR3 GRP kiosks across three standardised designs.

The order included:

  • 21 kiosks measuring 2500mm x 800mm x 1980mm
  • 5 kiosks measuring 2800mm x 800mm x 1980mm
  • 6 kiosks measuring 4000mm x 800mm x 1980mm

Quinshield developed each design to meet Yorkshire Water’s specification, including LPCB SR3 security requirements. By working from approved designs, Quinshield was able to begin manufacture quickly once the order was placed.

Managing the Four-Week Programme

The key challenge was the short manufacturing programme. Quinshield needed to complete all 32 kiosks within four working weeks to support the client’s advanced procurement deadline.

Quinshield achieved this through existing production capacity, established manufacturing processes and an experienced workforce. The project did not require a change to the factory set-up or a special one-off arrangement; instead, Quinshield used its existing facilities and manpower to deliver the order at pace.

Early design approval also helped protect the programme. Non-standard door frames were produced ahead of order placement, while padlockable security locks and specific heater components were sourced during the approval phase. This reduced the risk of supply delays and allowed production to progress without unnecessary hold-ups.

Overcoming Supply and Component Challenges

Although the manufacturing programme was short, Quinshield identified potential bottlenecks before they could affect delivery.

The approved designs included non-standard doors, so drawings were completed and approved before the order was placed. This allowed the door frames to be produced in advance.

In addition, Quinshield worked with its electrical contractors to source the specified heaters within the required lead time. The locking system was also addressed during the approval phase, allowing the supplier to secure the required padlockable security locks in time for production.

As a result, the kiosks were completed ahead of schedule.

Outcome

Quinshield successfully manufactured all 32 LPCB SR3 GRP kiosks within four working weeks, supporting BGEN and Yorkshire Water’s advanced procurement programme.

This project demonstrated Quinshield’s ability to deliver high-volume, security-rated GRP kiosks quickly, without compromising on specification, coordination or build quality.
